Breaking News: Church in Shanxi, China asks for urgent prayer:
At about 3 AM on September 13, 2009, Fushan County government officials and police led a violent and bloody attack on Fushan Church in Linfin, Shanxi. They mobilized some 400 uniformed police and other hired attackers to demolish the Good News Cloth Shoes Factory and the new church building, and brutally beat up the Christian brothers and sisters who were sleeping on the construction site. Several church members were severely injured, fell unconscious, and had to be sent to the hospital for emergency care. The attack left over one hundred injured in various degrees and devastating destruction.
Factory assembly buildings were bulldozed in more than ten locations into piles of rubble and dirt. In some sections, only the broken walls remain. Damaged cars and broken pieces of kitchenware and refrigerators lay strewn everywhere; TVs and valuable personal items were looted, including Bibles, cell phones, money, and clothes; Gardens were bulldozed into dirt piles, with no regard to the small animals living on the farms tended by the church members for sustenance. For Fushan church members, the destruction is “worse than the Sichuan Earthquake.”
Please pray fervently for the badly injured brothers and sisters, and for the church members outraged by the bloody and devastating government-led action against Fushan Church.
